Hard living in Tofino

Some random observations from my time in Tofino.

There was some construction on the highway from Nanaimo to Tofino and we had to stop at this lonely spot for a half hour before we could go through. It was late, very dark and we were well out of cell range. There was a lone flagger stuck out on the road to stop traffic. I figured that could get spooky if you were there alone with no cars yet. As it was, as we made our way through the construction zone, there were huge bonfires at the side of the highway where they were burning a bunch of the trees they cut down to make room for improvements to the road. That was pretty eerie.

The place where we stayed in Tofino was about the nicest house I've ever been to. One of the things about it was that it had 10 foot ceilings and 8 foot doors. There's no real purpose to those things otherwise that they look high roller. That's not a criticism. They do their job well.

Sunsets on the beach really are a thing. We went for a walk last night with the sun going down into the waves off to the west. Was beautiful. West coast, best coast.

Chocolate labs are battering rams of happiness. Tay's friend has a big galoot of a dog. When he's on the beach, he'll come barreling at you because he's so happy about life and will forget to slow down. If you're not careful he'll knock you over and keep on truckin'. Hard to stay mad at them for that, but I didn't get my knees taken out by it either.
