A rest day

Hello Everyone,

Arthur and I took a rest day today, which for me means a lot of errands, and for him, a lot of waiting in the truck. But we did get to the dog park, so really, he can't complain too badly. In fact, after tossing a stick in the pond for him a few times, I made to head back to the truck, but he was having none of it. He pulled me back to the stick and pointed at it. He was not ready to go after a meagre couple of tosses.

We rode another great trail yesterday, called Chestnut Mountain. It was similar to Bangtail Divide, a long climb up a mountain, lots of meadows and sweeping vistas. In addition to a growing appreciation for wildflowers, I've come to love seeing butterflies in a way that I had not before. Cresting a bit of a climb onto a meadow and seeing the butterflies flit about is a pretty cool experience. Like the views such places offer, it's made better by the fact that you just hauled your ass up there.

Another big item on my to do list today was to get some more books to keep me occupied. As you might imagine, I've got a lot more time for reading, so I've been frequenting local used bookstores in the places I've been. I'm a bit of a high roller when it comes to used books, and I'm not even thrown off if the price is as high as ten dollars if the book is something I particularly want to read. I know what you're thinking, I'm really making it rain at the Book Barn here in Bozeman.

Originally I was going to head to Wyoming tomorrow, but in chatting with a guy at a bike shop today, he had some suggestions for trails I should hit while I'm here. Would be a shame to miss them, don't know when I'll be back.

Wes

Here are a few shots from the trail yesterday. They show the view from the lookout at the top of the mountain, one of the meadows we rode through, and lazy bones Arthur taking a rest in the shade.
