Winnipeg day 6

Heading home today.

- Went to a fun bar last night. The High and Lonesome Club, which advertises itself as Winnipeg's premier honky tonk. I want to make fun of that title, but honestly that's legitimately cool. Lots of interesting people and a great band. It was a good reminder that the city's culture doesn't entirely resemble its topology.

- Walked to the Canadian Museum of Human Rights this morning before going the airport. It's a beautiful space, but perhaps befitting a museum dedicated to a concept, there's a lot of airy language and less 'stuff' than, say, a natural history museum.

- Paid $17 for a smoothie in the airport. Seinfeld's joke about what things cost in airports holds up.

- They call Saskatchewan the 'Land of The Living Skies'. It's a great title, and could apply to the prairies generally. The sunsets really are next level. The problem for Winnipeg is that, by their nature, cities have buildings that block the view of those living skies. Not much can be done to mitigate that, but it really shoots them in the foot.

Final thought: being part of a humanitarian workforce is a rewarding thing. I'm pretty sure there will be a next time for me. I just hope that the work itself will be more in line with my skill set (dad jokes and lifting heavy things).
