What even is the Ontario flag?

Hello Everyone,

"I don't think of myself as being from a particular province, I just think of myself as Canadian," is both a quote from a real person and about the most Ontario thing you can say, beyond "I am a fan of the Maple Leafs." There are a lot of Nova Scotian flags adorning people's driveways, houses and cars here. I don't think I've ever seen an Ontario flag on anything but a government building back home. I've definitely seen more Acadian flags in Ottawa than Ontario flags, but that at least I understand. Those people are displaced. With the Nova Scotian flags here, I'm not sure what the message is. I mean, I get it. The Maritimes are great. That's why I'm here.

We're in an area called Lehave. It's about 20 minutes from Bridgewater, which is appropriately named as the center of town is a bridge over the river. South Mountain, Ontario, could take a lesson from that.

On Saturday we moved cottages. We were apprehensive about it since the last place was so great. As luck would have it, this place is also great. Not as good in terms of direct access to the beach, but a more modern cottage, space for Arthur to roam, nearby to several beaches and a big wraparound deck with a gorgeous view of the water. It's mint.

Saturday was also the last day of our quarantine, so today we went exploring. We hit up the nearby beach and spent about 45 seconds in the water. It's frigid. Then we went to Mahone Bay, the Merrickville of Nova Scotia, complete with craft breweries and artist shops. We had fish and chips on a patio. It was everything you could want in a Sunday: clear skies, sitting in the shade, a good beer, and a pun the the restaurant's name (Oh My Cod).

There's a hurricane coming our way, apparently. We acted like locals and bought some water, candles and a flashlight. We have a wood stove here, so we should be okay for heat and cooking. It's too bad that you can't talk much in the stores now with the face masks, I would have told people not to worry. I lived through the Ice Storm, I'm sure we can handle this. Nothing like some helpful advice to endear yourself to the locals.

Arthur and his new friend. I believe this guy lives at the cottage next door. He wanders over and convinces Arthur to play with him. He is very much like Ace in that his irrepressible enthusiasm overcomes Arthur's innate grumpiness until they are chasing each other around the yard with a stick.

Also, the view from our deck on a sunny Sunday morning and a nice picture of a snail shell.
