Coming in from the cold

Hello Everyone, Nearing the end of an adventure is bittersweet. Seeing family and friends will be great, but I've been spending weeks and months exploring new places, biking wherever I want, not having a schedule. It's living the dream. Who wants to head back to normal life after that? Few would, I bet, but it helps your decision making process when the weather is actively trying to kill you. Message received, Mother Nature. Message received.
When I woke up this morning, it was three below zero. Not terribly cold, but chilly enough. And it ain't going to get any warmer. Like a shot across the bow, the message is clear: you really should go home. Things are only going to go down from here.
I like Canadian winters, but only when I'm living in a sturdy home. As great as the camper is, it's just not set up to have a fireplace.
I took a risk by coming back to Canada and driving home along this route. The safer thing would have been to stay in the south and drive home from there. But I was done with the US, and have really enjoyed seeing my country this way. But at this time of year, it's living on borrowed time. You know things are going to turn inhospitable, you just hope it stays nice for long enough to get home. And it has. So, as I near the end of my trip, I'm not sad that it is ending. One can only live on borrowed time for so long.

A couple of shots from my stop last night. It was probably the nicest rest area I'd ever seen. Next to some rapids and with a hiking trail nearby. It even had flush toilets. No pictures of those though.
