The long and winding road

There are two kinds of special moments when you travel. The kind that are situational, where they are special because they are new, but when you revisit that place and try to recapture the magic again, you can't. It isn't as special, because you can only visit a place for the first time once. But it's not always like that. There are places that are special every time you go.
The first time I drove to Revelstoke, it blew my mind. It's as good as the Sea to Sky highway, but with less development and less traffic. It's still on the Trans Canada, but it somehow feels remote. As I make my way home, I worried that driving through here again would reveal it to be of the former kind of place. Special when you are first here, but not as good the second time. I have driven through the mountains a lot, of course. Maybe I'm jaded now.
Turns out I'm not. It still blows my mind.
This stretch of road is as beautiful as any in the world, and Revelstoke has some of the best views anywhere. You don't ever really get tired of that.

I stayed at a tiny provincial park outside of Salmon Arm last night. The advantage of camping in the fall when it's cold at night is that you get amazing fog in the morning. These are a few shots from that park.
