The most BC thing in the world

Is there a more apt BC stereotype than complaining about BC Ferries? I say no, because I'm about to complain about BC Ferries. Sure, you could say a snowboarder smoking organic weed while doing yoga in their wildly overpriced house, but I'm going with the ferry thing. My friend Tay invited me to Tofino for the weekend, and I was eager to get there a bit early to walk the beaches and enjoy the 'end of the road culture' as they call it. Not sure that label still applies, given how popular and expensive the place is, but I'll let them have it. I've been hanging out in Van city the last few days, playing mega blocks with my nephew and taking walks in the dog park. It's a hard life, but the possibility of adventure was as attractive as ever. I made it to the terminal an hour ahead of sailing and was lucky to get one of the last spots on the ferry. Or so I thought. A few minutes after parking in the line up, boarding started and I crept forward. But just before making it on, I was told to stop, then back up and park in a different lane. "They must just want me on a different deck," I thought. I was right, they did. Except that deck was already full. I had the supremely frustrating experience of watching the vehicles that had been behind me roll forward and get on, while I was stuck behind some big trucks. Then I got to watch the ship sail off. Was not a happy camper. It's an hour and a half to cross, and then a three hour drive from Nanaimo to Tofino. I had hoped to make the drive in the daylight, given that some of those roads aren't the best. I asked the person who had flagged me down what had happened. They were full for oversized vehicles, she said. I was told the limit was 9 feet, and I fit under that. She said the limit was 7 feet. Lovely. One way or another, I was given bad information. Had they told me upfront, I would have driven to a different terminal. The next ferry here was three hours later. But I couldn't then. I had paid for my ticket and was in line. Nothing you can do.
Anyway, I made it here and it's great. Included below are a few pictures of Arthur at the terminal, in front of the house and on the beach.
