Arthur has a point about squirrels

Hello Everyone,
There are few, if any, things that Arthur likes to do more than chase squirrels. Many times over the course of this trip, we'll be long into a ride, he'll be troding along beside me, tongue out, panting, when he sees a chipmunk skitter along the ground in front of us. All of a sudden, his head, ears and tail come up and he's got a burst of energy. He takes off into the bushes, bounding after the terrified little thing. I used to feel badly for the chipmunks and squirrels he chased. It's got to be a scary thing, even though he's never caught one. But now, I'm a lot less charitable towards these woodland creatures. They can be assholes. I've been staying in a national forest in the hills above Steamboat Springs for the last few days, parked under a big pine tree. Many mornings, I not only get to hear the loud chatter of the squirrels, but the bastards are dropping pine cones on my camper. Naturally, I have to assume it's deliberate and not some regular part of foraging. There are a lot of trees in a national forest, and this guy chooses the one next to me to stock up on pine cones for the winter. A pine cone isn't very heavy, but drop it from 20 feet or more and it'll make a loud thwack on a fiberglass roof. Especially when you happen to be sleeping right under it. I'm pretty sure he's aiming at me as well, I've had pine cones hit the picnic table around me when I was eating breakfast the other day. So, now I don't feel so bad when Arthur goes after one of these jokers. Karma is real, squirrels. Wes
