When you're in traffic, you are traffic

Hello Everyone, So far, my impression of Jackson Hole is that it is crowded. Granted, my sensitivity to such things is pretty high at the best of times, and I've been living alone in a camper for the past seven months, but still, when the big parking lot of the grocery store is almost entirely full on a Monday afternoon, you know things are packed. Additionally, the laundromat was bumping and the line at the post office was ten people deep. I'm currently in the library and got the last comfortable chair. It's raining today, so people like me aren't out on the trails, they're in here working on their blogs. Also, God bless libraries.
What I'm trying to say is I took a day off from riding Monday to get some stuff done, and I am just not used to running into rush hour conditions. I made into a bike shop, and was thankfully the only customer there. The guy working the cash and the mechanic were only too happy to give me recommendations for where to ride and where to camp. As for the latter, I didn't take them up on it and instead came back to the same spot I've been staying at for the last few days. It's a longer drive, but it's quiet there and I avoid the super steep Teton Pass to get out of town. Part of the reason for not riding was that I wanted to do a longer ride yesterday. It was about 14 miles, similar to the one I did Sunday. I met a couple from Colorado in the parking lot, and we rode the loop together. It was great, with the only thing that would have made it better would be to actually be able to see the mountains that make this place famous. While not as bad as BC, the air here is hazy enough that you can only see a kilometer or so. You can't really see the mountains in the background, so unless you are actually climbing a one, Jackson just seems like any other small town, that happens to be overrun with rich tourists. On a different note, I rolled over 30,000 km on my trip yesterday. Pretty happy about that, it's like confirmation that I've been to a lot of places and seen a lot of things. Wes

The first two are of my photogenic dog in front of hazy landscapes. The first is from our ride yesterday, and normally you would be able to see big mountains in the background. The second is from the campsite, where forest fires make for beautiful sunsets.
The last is of the two of us on our ride. Yes, my hair looks like that pretty much all the time, and for your information, I shower every day. Genetics are a thing and I inherited more than a name from Grant Ross.
