Easy day, hard day

Hello Everyone, After a couple of full days, I decided to take a break from riding yesterday. Our pattern since we've been in Nelson is to get up, have breakfast, have breakfast again, head into town to get groceries before it gets too hot, hit the trails, then hit the beach for a swim. It's a good life. On my day off, I figured I could run a few errands if we weren't going to be riding. Unfortunately, the things I find charming about Nelson are things that many people find charming about Nelson, and the town gets busy early. For the things I wanted to get done, like get a haircut, it made parking impossible to find. Frustrated, we just went straight to the beach. I have food and water, the other stuff can wait. Arthur and I spend a good part of our day at this particular beach. It has some nice shaded spots, and dogs are allowed off leash. It is too hot to walk around town, I'm not really here to check out touristy stuff anyway, so a book and a beach blanket keep me occupied. Keep in mind, this is a fresh water beach, the best kind, not like their poor, salt water little imitations. The other reason I wanted to take a day off yesterday was to give Arthur a break, as I knew today was going to be a long ride. Clocking in at almost four hours, it's not the longest we've done, but when you factor in the 35 degree weather and blaring sun, it ranks up there for being arduous. As usual, we went for a swim afterwards. It was busy while we were there today. As I do with the people, Arthur acknowledges the other dogs, but then sits on our mat and largely ignores them. I read my book, he rolls in the sand, we each have our thing. You'd think he'd be zonked for the day after a big run and then a swim. But no, after dinner, he barks at me to play with him. I'll toss a stick for a bit until I can convince him to come in and lay down. Ours is a high intensity/low intensity life. There is no medium. Wes
Photos
The first is from near the highest point of our ride. If you zoom in, you can just barely make out the bridge into town. We didn't climb the whole way up from the level of the water in this photo, you have to drive up a piece to get to the trailhead, but we did do a good chunk of the elevation you see here the old fashioned way.
The second photo is from the beach after the ride.
The last photo is just a nice shot of the little waterfall near to where I'm camping.
