Hello Everyone,

I almost drove right through Fernie, without stopping. It wasn't intentional, in fact, I intend to spend the better part of a week here. It's that Fernie isn't big, and most of it is off the highway. I cruised right through, past the kind of big box stores one finds along a highway, wondering where the rest of the town was, before Google informed me that I had missed most of it.

I turned around, parked, and wandered around the charming downtown for awhile. They had a Canada Day event going on, a kind of a half concert, half farmer's market kind of thing. It was nice, but I am not in the market for authentic, handmade crafts. I would have stuck around more, but it was raining, heavily though intermittently.

Like a lot of RVers, I spent the night in the parking lot of the ski hill. There were about a dozen other rigs there, from big fifth wheels to people who've converted the back of a pick up. It rained a lot, which was fine. But then we got some heavy duty lighting, close enough to us to make a hell of a racket. Arthur, not a fan of the thunder. We snuggled in the bed of the camper and rode out the storm.

It called for rain again today, so not ideal biking conditions. However, it's been three whole days since Arthur and I have hit the trails, and that is a very long time for us. So, we hit a series of runs that start right from town, and got dumped on. Epically.

Not just buckets of rain, but hail too. Being rugged types, Arthur and I can handle that kind of thing. (Pretty sure if I asked his opinion, he'd prefer to not be out in the rain, but that's another matter.) However, I turned around when I heard some thunder.

So, now we're chillin' in town again today, hoping for better weather tomorrow.

P.S. This is the only photo I've taken so far. It's been too wet to bust out my phone. It's from the parking lot at the trailhead. Doesn't show the town in the best of light, but appropriate to my mood right now.
