In search of lost time

Hello Everyone,

I think living in the North would mess me up. It's possible I would get used to it, but just being this far north is playing havoc with my circadian rhythm.

That might be putting it strongly, but it's 10pm as I write this and it's barely dusk. I'm normally well into my preparations for bed at this hour, but I just got up from a nap.

Like I said, total havoc.

Today was a rest day for Arthur and I. A chance to run some errands and give our legs a break. We've had a couple of big days in a row.

With the long weekend upon us, I can't help but notice that my rugged little mountain town is noticibly popular with tourists. (Yours truly excluded. I'm an adventurer.)

I overheard a lot of languages in town today: German, French, Chinese, etc. Golden may feel out there, but it's on a major highway. If you want the Canadian Rockies experience, and can't afford Lake Louise, it's a good option. You have to drive a bit to get here, but Canada is big, it takes awhile to get anywhere.

I'm a little concerned that my choices for free camping will be constrained in the coming days. I've noticed an increase in the number of RVs and campers I see on the roads. Not everyone wants to hang out in the boonies, but these spots usually don't accommodate huge numbers. And if the free spots are taken, it's a good bet the parks and campgrounds will be full as well.

But that's the advantage of the snail-like existence I lead. With my home on my back, I can get creative about where I stay. As I said, Canada is a big place. Lots of little nooks to tuck into for the night.

Wes

Here's a picture of Arthur giving me the eyes the other morning while I was busy cleaning up and not playing with him.

The second picture is one I posted on my Instagram, it's Arthur in the Kicking Horse River, with the wooden pedestrian bridge of Golden in the background.
