Hello Everyone, A number of years ago, I played on a soccer team with a guy who was very similar to me in many respects: ruggedly handsome, outdoorsy types with a fondness for beards and plaid, who are ruggedly handsome. However, he was a notch above me in most of those categories. I liked to go camping whenever I could, he went on week-long moose hunting trips, armed with a crossbow. I had a beard, in that there was hair on my face. He had a beard, one that was taking over his face. Etc. My sister and Anna, who were both on the team as well, joked that I was the Hollywood lumberjack and he was the actual lumberjack. I feel that way about Revelstoke and Golden. Revy, as the kids call it, is quaint and clean (ish) and beautiful and tourist ready. Golden is more of a working town feel. It's smaller, more rugged, rougher around the edges. The hole in the wall bike shop still sells high end bikes, but here, they actually recommend bear spray. (I'm now packing whenever I ride)
Side note - Arthur and I ran into a black bear today, on two separate occasions. Both weren't very big, and wandered away as soon as we rolled up, but it's a sign that there are a lot of them out there.
Oddly enough, with my truck, dog, scruffy beard, plaid shirts anf mountain bike, I don't seem to stand out. Even the camper is pretty common around these parts. I saw a bunch in Revy as well, but you know, nicer ones.

Included below are a picture of Arthur by the lake in Revelstoke, and at the top of a mountain, looking at a bigger mountain. As well, two pictures of my new addition to the bike. Looks like a water bottle, but it's actually bear spray in an adapter to fit your water bottle holder. Do Not mix those two up.
