The Oregon loop

Hello Everyone,

I have a new contestant for most beautiful stretch of road in America. Like the others, it brings a different flavour to the competition, making it a tough call for which one comes out on top.

The road from Hood River to Portland follows the banks of the Columbia river and is more or less facing west. So when you drive towards Portland in the evening, you get the setting sun framed by the cliffs at the side of the river. It's a nice touch, as are the waterfalls cascading down from the highest points along the way. I normally hate driving west at sunset, but will make an exception when the scenery is this nice.

Today is end of my loop through Oregon. I drop Marie off at the airport this evening, and start to make my way up through Washington state. Arthur's been on the trails for about a week straight, so I'm going to give him a couple of days' rest.

Yesterday we rode at Post Canyon again, as it was hard to beat those trails. We took our time leaving town, but eventually made it to Portland. Arthur got to sleep on a bed again last night, so he wasn't in a hurry this morning.
