Not quite a complete package

Hello Everyone,
If Usain Bolt played football, it's quite likely he wouldn't be anywhere near as good as you might think at first blush. It's easy to think he'd be a great receiver given his height and speed, but there are so many little things that go into that position. Getting high marks in just two of the important skills isn't enough to create a complete package. The trails in Mendocino are similar.
They are among the most beautiful I've ever seen. They run through a redwood forest, with enormous trees towering overhead. Everything is lush and green. There are little streams that run along the trails and bridges that cross them. It's idyllic.
But they are poorly laid out, with few loops to do. Mostly I just biked down and then back up the same trail. The reception is bad in the forest, so I bought a map. But it wasn't obvious that I needed one or where to get it. I'm just an enthusiast and read up a lot on trails. The average rider wouldn't know where to go. They are also poorly signed. To get there, you wander down a dirt road for awhile until you have gone a set length. There's no sign saying 'hey, the trails are here '.
There's easily the potential to create a draw here like there is at Kingdom Trails, Moab or Sedona. But those places don't just have beautiful trails, they are the complete package. It's a lesson I've learned in a few realms in life. It's not enough to be beautiful, you have to work on your other qualities as well.
