Hello Everyone,

If you know me at all, you know how much I love social media. An early adopter of MySpace, Friendster, Geosites, LiveJournal, I’m always up on the latest trends. That’s why I’m particularly excited to announce that I’ve finally gotten around to putting up some social media for this road trip.

My Instagram handle is @rollingstartadventures and Twitter is @rollingstartadv. As the name implies, they are a work in progress.

I’ve also locked up the web address www.rollingstartadventures.com and am in the process of putting together a web site for it. My idea is to have it be different from this site, with more article type pieces rather than a blog. But again, that’s not set in stone.

The name Rolling Start comes from the act of pushing yourself off to get going on your bike. I like it because I’ve always found that once you get moving, you have a sense of what’s possible. Since I’m doing a lot of biking lately, that seemed to be a good name to use. But more than that, it also refers to the idea of a road trip and adventures more generally.

Although I am not particularly good at it, I believe it’s important to prioritize the key elements of any endeavour and figure out the details as you go. If you wait for everything to be lined up, you can miss a lot of fun.

That’s not to say planning isn’t important. It’s to say if you default towards doing stuff, you force yourself to plan to ensure it happens.

Lastly, suggestions for funny hashtags and such are welcome.

Tonight is my last night in Albuquerque (which I’ve finally learned to spell without having to look up). Tomorrow, the plan is to get up early and head to Sedona, Arizona. I’m both excited because I know the trails and views are amazing there, but a little concerned with how Arthur will fare, given that there’s a festival on and the trails will be busy. But you know, I’ll figure it out as I go.
