More Adventures in Moving

Hello Everyone,
I originally sent out this email on March 20, 2015.

The best kind of interaction in business is one where the cost is low to the provider, but the value is high to the recipient. It's why companies like Google are so incredibly profitable because they provide a valuable service, but the cost to them for doing so is low. I've written a few times about helping people move, and there is something similar going on.
The cost to me to helping people move is usually quite low. I work in an office, so getting a bit of exercise is a good practice. On the other hand, the hardest part of moving is deciding what to take and where to store it and packing and unpacking, etc. But I don't have to do any of that when I am just helping with the move. All I have to do is sling boxes and such back and forth to a truck (or minivan as some of you may remember from a recent adventure). With arms like tree trunks, that's easy as pie. (Please note, tree trunks come in different sizes).
This past Saturday, I helped Taylor, my former roommate, move his dad's belongings from their house in Ottawa, which is being sold, to their cottage in the Thousand Islands, near Brockville. Far from being a chore, it was actually a lovely day for me. Briefly, I spent a day chatting with a good friend, got a bit of exercise in, and helped them out. A win all around.
Sophie and Arthur, however, had by far the most amount of fun. As I was all day helping with the move, I brought them with me to Brockville. There are a bunch of cottages around that area, but with no one around in the winter, I didn't worry too much about them running around. Kaqui was there, Taylor's unpredictable dog, but with lots of room and plenty of things to distract them, they all got along. At the end of the day, Arthur was laying on his back in the snow, cooling off. They both slept soundly on the ride home. The last time I was helping someone move, it was snowing heavily. This time around, we were fortunate to avoid the snow. It was freezing rain instead. Can't win 'em all.
